It should be noted that this year is the 400th anniversary of Strozzi's birth—she was baptized August 6, 1619. Originally for soprano voice & continuo, in e minor as here. Text means: “Tears of mine, (why do you hold back, why don't you wash away the pain which deprives me of breath and oppresses my heart?)”, from the “Recreations of Euterpe.”
