Aria, “Schweig’, schweig’, nur schweig’”, from Cantata 178
from: J.S. Bach - Cantatas
The sixth number in the cantata, originally for tenor, strings and continuo in e minor, transposed to c herein. Text means, “Be silent, be silent, just be silent, staggeringly dizzy Reason!” We take this opportunity to advise the recorder player to evoke steadily increasing exasperation when playing the chromatically descending sequential motive, e.g. in mm. 5-7.
Keyboard parts include separate recorder parts at no additional cost.
