Symphony No. 4, 3rd Mvmt. (Requires many different sizes of recorders)
from: G. Mahler (1860-1911)
In original key of G major. One must have many different recorders to play this arrangement. The cast in order of appearance: 440 bass, 415 alto, 415 voice flute, 415 fourth flute, 440 voice flute, 440 sopranino/alto, 440 garklein. Note that all the recorders are to be played using F fingering except the final garklein. The original dynamics, slurs and articulations are indicated, but of course there is a limit to how faithfully a recorder can perform them, especially the dynamics. They are included mainly so that the composer’s original intent is transmitted, and the best possible recorderistic solution found.
