It should be noted that this year is the 400th anniversary of Strozzi’s birth—she was baptized August 6, 1619. Originally for soprano voice and bass. Text means, “Breezes, since I cannot/To my distant idol [tell of my suffering,/Carry…to…Lidio, my ardent sighs.]”
