“Rheinlegendchen” from Des Knaben Wunderhorn arr. for alto doubling C instrument

Originally in A major, transposed here to F. Primarily based on orchestral version, which differs in many ways with piano version, which was also consulted. The dynamics, which come from the original orchestral parts, are not to be taken overly seriously, since they cannot be followed precisely on recorders. They are included for their general character indications, rather than for literal interpretation. Title means “Little Rhine-Legend,” from The Youth's Magic Horn. Halfway through there is ample time to switch recorders. Note that we also offer a version for recorder duet. Revised 11.18.18.
