“Menuet al Rovescio” from Piano Sonata Hob. XVI/26, arr. for alto & bass recorders
from: F. J. Haydn (1732-1809)
Originally in A major, transposed here to C. Haydn himself arranged this from his Symphony No. 47, the “Palindrome” Symphony, so named because of this movement. The A section of the Menuet serves in retrograde order as the B section, as is also true of the two sections of the trio. See also the version for soprano and tenor recorders, which can be found in the “Duets from Dufay to de Falla in the “Duets by Various Composers” section.
